Developers Wrap Up Season of Discovery & Hint at Future Plans

With the release of Phase 8 on Tuesday and the new Scarlet Enclave raid opening today, Season of Discovery has reached the apparent conclusion of its content cycle.

In a video titled “What’s Next,” the developers talk about the new content that was added with the season, giving a little behind-the-scenes look into the process of creating it and watching players experience it. Most of the video is dedicated to this look back at the season, covering runes, the Karazhan Crypts dungeon, the Scarlet Enclave raid and more.

At 7:54, Senior Game Producer Josh Greenfield, aka Aggrend, confirms that Season of Discovery characters will remain accessible “for years to come.” He says that they are working on something else now, but doesn’t give any details. We can probably expect to hear more about whatever other WoW Classic content is in the works after the dust has settled on Phase 8. At the very least, it confirms that there will be another round of seasonal content or something similar in the future.

…until it was no longer 5 man content, and we sadly walked away
