The Feast of Winter Veil holiday event is now active in Season of Discovery and will last through January 2nd. The event brings some unique challenges and rewards to the game, including some crafting recipes that will not be usable until the next phase, but which you may want to get your hands on now while they are available.
Some items have been adjusted to make them usable at level 25, including Fresh Holly. Raiders will want to pick up some Mistletoe for a +20 Spirit buff. Both of these items can be obtained by blowing a /kiss to a Winter Reveler inside an inn. You can only do this once for every hour of in-game time.
Now’s a great time to level your Cooking skill with the addition of Recipe: Gingerbread Cookie and Recipe: Egg Nog. You’ll also want to complete some of the quests in your faction’s capital city to earn some extra gold.
The quests to save Metzen and kill the Abominable Greench are available and can be completed in a raid group. You will definitely need help for these since they are in Alterac Mountains, a level 30-40 zone, but they are doable with a small group. These quests will reward you with a gift that has a chance to contain several valuable recipes that won’t be usable until next phase:
- Schematic: Snowmaster 9000
- Pattern: Gloves of the Greatfather
- Pattern: Green Holiday Shirt
- Formula: Enchant Weapon – Winter’s Might
- Plans: Edge of Winter
- Recipe: Elixir of Frost Power
If you’re looking to get festive with your wardrobe, you’ll be glad to hear that Red Winter Hat and Green Winter Hat both drop inside the Blackfathom Deeps raid. You can also pick up a holiday gnome disguise from the Wintervolt machines near major cities.
Starting December 25th, you’ll be able to open gifts under the tree in your capital city, including Ticking Gift, which has a chance to contain any of the crafting recipes listed above.
