In a recent Blue Post, Community Manager Kaivax indicated that not only would the recently discovered Wargames function for battle grounds not be removed from the game, but that some improvements might be made to it.
The Wargames function was discovered by the Twitch Streamer yesmasterx recently and the prospect of being able to use the fully functional game mode in Warsong Gulch has caused a bit of a stir.
One of the more interesting aspects of Wargames is that it allows for players of the same faction to go toe to toe and prove whose strategy is better.
There will be two ways to enjoy Wargames, either as a participant, or as a spectator. Both are currently available in game and a command prompt is required to access either of them.
- To start a Wargames match as a participant you need to first, get a group of five together, have the person you plan to challenge as a Battle.net Friend, then use the command /wargame [battle.net ID here] warsong. After that, you’ll receive an almost instant que and enter the battleground.
- To enjoy the mode as a spectator, you’ll need three different groups, and all of the group leaders must also be Battle.net friends. The leader of the spectator group is then require to invite the other two groups using another command prompt: /invitespectatormatch [group1 Battle.net ID] [group2 Battle.net ID] 0 warsong This will invite both other groups to a single Wargames match, with the one who invited them as the spectator.
What new funtions, tweaks, or changes Blizzard plans to make to the Wargames function is anyone’s guess, but for right now, players are taking fair advantage.
Yes.
We do not intend to disable the Wargame function in WoW Classic.
We may make some tweaks and adjustments to how it works, of course.
