20th Anniversary Event Overview

World of Warcraft first launched on November 23, 2004, and Blizzard is celebrating the game’s 20th anniversary this year with a whole slate of special in-game activities for the occasion. There’s something for everyone in the 20th Anniversary Event introduced by Patch 11.0.5, and plenty of unique rewards and achievements to earn! 2024 expands upon previous anniversary events and adds a lot of new content as well.

This guide will provide an overview of the event, including quests, activities, rewards, and achievements. Many of the activities and rewards are covered in more detail in their own guides.

Where: Outside the Caverns of Time in Tanaris

Reputation Buff

The WoW’s Anniversary buff grants a 10% increase to experience and reputation gains while the event is active.

You can double this buff up by completing the Celebrate Good Fun! daily quest, which gives the Blessings of the Bronze Dragonflight buff for 12 in-game hours.

Quests

The first time you log in during the 20th Anniversary Event, you’ll automatically get the breadcrumb quest Another Timely Invitation, which points you to the main celebration hub outside the Caverns of Time in Tanaris. You’ll hand in this quest to Yllana in the middle of the large central tent (52.9. 55.7). She’ll give you the quest Meet and Greet. This quest will introduce you to all of the activity greeters as you will need to speak with each one. Then Yllana will offer the quest Shopping Squee! which will introduce you to the shopkeepers. Completing these quests will earn you 8 Bronze Celebration Tokens in total.

There is one other non-weekly quest that you can complete at the celebration grounds, Truth of the Dark Irons. This quest is offered by Moira Thaurissan ( 63.0, 49.7) and tasks you with defeating the final boss in the Blackrock Depths raid.

There are several weekly quests that you can complete for additional currency and rewards.

An Original Path Through Time

- Objective: Complete 5 Timewalking dungeons
The Originals
- Quest Giver: Izaik Kadarov (62.3, 51.8)
- Objective: Slay 3 particular World Bosses
Soldier of Time
- Quest Giver: Izaik Kadarov (62.3, 51.8)
- Objective: Earn 500 Honor in Korrak’s Revenge
Chromie’s Codex
- Quest Giver: Chromie (62.6, 50.0)
- Objective: Complete the scenario “The Codex of Chromie”
Disturbance Detected: Blackrock Depths
- Quest Giver: Moira Thaurissan (63.0, 49.7)
- Objective: Defeat Dagran Thaurissan and retrieve Timewarped Ironforge Blueprints

Daily Quests

There are also a couple of daily quests available at the celebration grounds.

Celebrate Good Fun! is offered by Yllana (52.9. 55.7). This quest is notable as it rewards not only Bronze Celebration Tokens but also the buff Blessings of the Bronze Dragonflight, which increases your experience and reputation gains by 10% for 12 hours and stacks with the WoW’s Anniversary passive buff. All sorts of anniversary activities count toward this quest, including:

Find and wear a costume
Ride a balloon
Use the ice rink
Ring the Scarab Gong
Classic Timewalking dungeons
The Codex of Chromie scenario
Trivia daily quest

There is one other daily quest, A Time to Reflect, which is offered by Historian Llore or Historian Ju’pa (62.8, 50.2). They will ask you a trivia question about Azeroth’s past. We have the questions and their answers covered in our Trivia Answers for Historian Llore & Historian Ju’pa guide.

Celebration Activities

The main hub for the 20th Anniversary Event is located just outside the Caverns of Time in Tanaris. There you’ll find a pop-up carnival similar to Darkmoon Faire, with a variety of fun activities to enjoy and familiar NPCs to bump into.

There is a rotating schedule of three events at the celebration grounds:

Fashion Frenzy is a chance to show off your transmog, similar to the Trial of Style event. Players are given a theme and time to get dressed up, and then everyone votes on their favorite.
Mount Mania is all about showing off your mount collection. The activity rep will summon a random mount, and you’ll have a few seconds to summon the same one to earn a point. The player with the most points at the end of the event wins.
Story Time offers a reenactment of past events from Azeroth’s history, narrated by Lorewalker Cho.

There are several other activities to be found around the celebration grounds, including costumes, a photo booth, a Hearthstone game table, and more.

Beyond the celebration grounds, there are many other events and activities for you to participate in during the 20th Anniversary.

Rewards

There are all sorts of rewards to be earned during the 20th Anniversary Event, including a new updated take on the iconic Tier 2 armor sets!

Currency

Bronze Celebration Tokens are earned through daily and weekly quests as well as weekly activities in Khaz Algar.

The Token Collector achievement allows you to receive additional Bronze Celebration Token drops from repeatable 20th Anniversary activities after you have collected 100 of the tokens. This achievement will become a Feat of Strength after the event ends.
