Carved Harbinger Crest Farming & Currency Guide

Carved Harbinger Crest are one of the main currencies introduced in The War Within, mainly used for upgrading gear and for circumventing the weekly Seasonal Cap for Weathered Harbinger Crest.

Farming

Carved Harbinger Crest can normally be earned from Outdoor Activities in Khaz Algar, Normal Difficulty Nerub-ar Palace, Mythic dungeons, and Mythic Keystone dungeons up to the +3 Mythic Key Difficulty. They can also be earned in small quantities by increasing the Renown Level with the factions of Khaz Algar, although this method is a one-time-only type of deal.

The methods that are available before the release of The War Within Season 1 for Carved Harbinger Crest farming are:

• Completing Outdoor Activities such as Special Assignments.
• Farming Reputation with the factions of Khaz Algar.
• Mythic Dungeons.
• Normal Difficulty Nerub-ar Palace.

World Quests Special Assignments

The only Outdoor Activities that can currently yield Carved Harbinger Crest are the Weekly Special Assignment and the Spreading the Light event. Those assignments, along with the Spreading the Light event, also serve as the main ways of gaining Restored Coffer Key. You will still gain the Carved Harbinger Crest from the Seasoned Adventurer’s Cache even if you are no longer eligible for the weekly Restored Coffer Key.

Renown Faction Reputation Farming

The second way to gather Carved Harbinger Crest is by farming reputation with the specific Khaz Algar factions. You will be able to gain Carved Harbinger Crest from all four of the factions however each of them rewards Carved Harbinger Crest at different levels of Renown.

Council of Dornogal

How to Use Carved Harbinger Crest

Carved Harbinger Crest have two general uses. They are mainly used as a reagent for upgrading Veteran-level armor and weapons but they can also be used as a way to acquire Weathered Harbinger Crest past the normal weekly Seasonal Cap.

Upgrading Veteran Gear

As with all other gear pieces in The War Within, Veteran Gear can be upgraded by Ledonir at the Contender’s Gate in Dornogal. The Carved Harbinger Crest will be required to raise any Veteran-level gear piece’s Item Level, with the crests starting to be required once the item reaches 590 Item Level. You will be able to use Carved Harbinger Crest to raise a Veteran-level gear piece to Item Level 606.

• Direct Upgrade from Tier 1 to Tier 8: 780 x Valorstones, 45 x Weathered Harbinger Crest, 60 x Carved Harbinger Crest
• Tier 1 to Tier 2: 100 x Valorstones, 15 x Weathered Harbinger Crest
• Tier 2 to Tier 3: 100 x Valorstones, 15 x Weathered Harbinger Crest
• Tier 3 to Tier 4: 100 x Valorstones, 15 x Weathered Harbinger Crest
• Tier 4 to Tier 5: 120 x Valorstones, 15 x Carved Harbinger Crest
• Tier 5 to Tier 6: 120 x Valorstones, 15 x Carved Harbinger Crest
• Tier 6 to Tier 7: 120 x Valorstones, 15 x Carved Harbinger Crest
• Tier 7 to Tier 8: 120 x Valorstones, 15 x Carved Harbinger Crest

Exchanging Harbinger Crests

The second way to use Carved Harbinger Crest is exchanging them for Weathered Harbinger Crests. While this may seem counter-intuitive, the exchange process ignores the normal Weekly Seasonal Cap, meaning that you can gain Weathered Harbinger Crests without waiting for the weekly reset.

To exchange the Carved Harbinger Crest you will have to go to Mythic Aspirations, which is right opposite the Delver’s Headquarters in Dornogal!

Once you reach the Mythic Aspirations, you can talk to Vaskarn and exchange 15 x Carved Harbinger Crest for 15 x Weathered Harbinger Crest. which ignore the seasonal limit.
