Vendors are scattered throughout cities and fully stocked with an array of food, drinks, and general goods.
Battle & Companion Pets
This event boasts ten holiday-exclusive pets to collect. If you happen to miss out, all but two of the pets can be caged and traded/sold on the Auction House, so there’s still a way to get ’em. The Globe Yeti and Jingles are not cageable, so here’s to hoping that RNG is on your side!
In addition to the pets themselves, players can also earn accessories for their buddies:
- The “Merry Munchkin” Costume gives the Perky Pug pet yet another outfit, and can be found inside a Carefully Wrapped Present beneath Greatfather Winter’s tree.
- A Tiny Winter Hat can be obtained to grant a chance for Pepe to be dressed like Greatfather Winter when summoned. Swing by the Smokywood Pastures cart and click on Greatfather Pepe to receive this BoP item:

Event Activities
Quests
There are a handful of introductory quests to help players dive into the holiday. Both factions begin by accepting a quest that takes them to Greatfather Winter to help him with a few important jobs, and eventually they receive a special book containing the lore around Feast of the Winter Veil.
- Alliance: Greatfather Winter is Here! can be picked up near the bank in Ironforge, and turned in to Greatfather Winter. In other major cities, the quest is accepted from Smokywood Pastures vendors.
- Horde: Great-father Winter is Here! can be accepted near the bank in Orgrimmar, and turned in to Great-father Winter. In other major cities, the quest can be picked up from Smokywood Pastures vendors.
- Now that you’re acquainted, Greatfather Winter needs you to bring him a holiday snack! Treats for Greatfather Winter (A) / Treats for Great-father Winter (H) will have you set out to deliver five Gingerbread Cookies. And of course, you can’t have cookies without milk! Ice Cold Milk can be purchased from Innkeepers.
- Small Eggs are found on the AH (extremely marked up during the event), or farmed from beasts such as the dragonhawks outside Silvermoon City in Eversong Woods
- Holiday Spices can be purchased from Smokywood Pastures vendors.
- Recipe: Gingerbread Cookie can also be purchased from holiday vendors.
- Upon delivery of his treat, Greatfather Winter will reward you with a Smokywood Pastures Gift Pack. Later, in the mail, you’ll receive the Smokywood Pastures Sampler containing an assortment of holiday themed food and drink.
- Tip: While your first instinct may be to throw it away, instead eat Graccu’s Mince Meat Fruitcake. As an added bonus, if you throw on three pieces of winter clothing while you munch, you’ll get the achievement ‘Tis the Season.
- Next, A Smokywood Pastures’ Thank You! (A) / A Smokywood Pastures’ Thank You! (H) will become available. Speak to Greatfather Winter and receive a Smokywood Pastures Special Gift.
- The gift contains one random seasonal profession recipe, and isn’t guaranteed to be for your chosen profession. These recipes can be traded and sold on the AH.
- The Reason for the Season (A) / The Reason for the Season (H) gives players the opportunity to learn the lore behind the holiday. Find the quest giver near the bank in your faction’s capital, and seek out the NPC you’re guided to. Speak with them to turn in the quest.
- You’ll receive The Feast of Winter Veil (A) / The Feast of Winter Veil (H), which requests that you read the provided book, then bring it to the faction leader located in either Ironforge or Thunder Bluff. Once you’re done, that means you’ve sleighed the event quest chain!
- Completion rewards 500 rep with that city, plus 125 rep for the rest of the faction capitals.
Daily Quest: The Abominable Greench
Unlike other WoW events, there isn’t a specific holiday dungeon associated with Feast of Winter Veil. However, there is a special outdoor boss encounter that is just as fun! Journey to the snowy valleys of Hillsbrad Foothills, and look for Growless Cave where The Abominable Greench dwells. Defeat the Greench to free Metzen the Reindeer and recover the Stolen Treats!
- Each day, players can pick up the quest You’re a Mean One… (A) / You’re a Mean One… (H) near the Winter Veil tree in Ironforge (Alliance) or Orgrimmar (Horde). On completion, collect your reward: a Stolen Present!
- Note: If you arrive to the area late and don’t get to tag the Greench in time, you can still complete the rest of the requirements and get credit for the quest once he’s dead.
