There are two versions of the city of Dalaran in modern World of Warcraft. The magical, floating city of mages was first transported to Northrend during the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, where it hovers high above the Crystalsong Forest zone at the center of the continent. That version of Dalaran is still accessible as part of the Wrath of the Lich King timeline.

In the Legion expansion, the city was transported to the Broken Isles continent, where it still resides today. Most quests in the Dragonflight and The War Within expansions that direct the player to Dalaran are pointing to this version of the city.

This guide will walk you through how to reach the Legion version of Dalaran in World of Warcraft. If you’re looking to start the Legion campaign and unlock your class order hall, we have a guide for that too!

Dalaran Hearthstone

If you’ve started the Legion Campaign on any character in your Warband, you should already have a Dalaran Hearthstone in your toy collection. You can use this item like your regular Hearthstone and it will always take you to the modern version of Dalaran, placing you right at the entrance to Krasus’ Landing. It has a 20 minute cooldown.

Portals

There are also portals to Dalaran available for Mages as well as inside each faction’s capital city.

Note that the two city portals do not take you directly to the city itself. You will instead be transported to the nearest zone, Azsuna, and will have to fly to Dalaran from there.

Mage Portals

Mages can create a portal for their party members with Portal: Dalaran – Broken Isles. For personal use, they also have Teleport: Dalaran – Broken Isles. These options will both place you directly inside the city.

Stormwind Portal Room (Alliance)

There is a portal to Azsuna in the Stormwind Portal Room. Click it, then open your map, and you’ll see the city of Dalaran floating off to the east of your current location. Fly up and eastward to head there.

Orgrimmar Portal Room (Horde)

There is a portal to Azsuna in the Orgrimmar Portal Room. Click it, then open your map, and you’ll see the city of Dalaran floating off to the east of your current location. Fly up and eastward to head there.
