How to Get to Zaralek Cavern

Patch 10.1 brought the Embers of Neltharion campaign to Dragonflight, which leads you through a new zone, Zaralek Cavern. The zone is an underground cave system that is located directly beneath the Dragon Isles. It is connected to the other zones by tunnels, and you can get there any time by flying or walking through these tunnels. But if you’re heading to Zaralek Cavern, you’ll most likely want to start the main questline for it first. We’ll walk you through how to do that and then show you where you can enter the zone from the surface.

How to Start the Embers of Neltharion Story

Before you can start the Zaralek Cavern portion of the Dragonflight campaign, you will have to get through all main story quests in the Dragon Isles up through The Forbidden Reach. We cover the main story campaign in our How to Unlock World Quests in Dragonflight guide, so check that out if you need some help getting through it all.

Once you’ve turned in the quest Return to Viridia, you will automatically receive the quest The Land Beneath. Following this quest chain will lead you into Zaralek Cavern.

There is currently no way of skipping this introductory quest chain for alts, but most of the unlocks you earn through the quests are account-wide.

Zaralek Cavern Entrances

There are three ways to enter Zaralek Cavern from the surface. The tunnel entrances can all be seen on the Ohn’ahran Plains map, but one of them is located on the border with Thaldraszus and one is over the line in The Azure Span.

Cascades Canyon

This is the first tunnel you will use to enter Zaralek Cavern as part of the main story campaign. It is located in Ohn’ahran Plains on the border with Thaldraszus, close to Valdrakken.

Teerakai

This tunnel is located in Ohn’ahran Plains in between Teerakai and Emerald Gardens.

Three-Falls Lookout

This tunnel is located in The Azure Span right in the encampment at Three-Falls Lookout on the border of Ohn’ahran Plains.

Zaralek Cavern Flight Paths

There are three flight masters in Zaralek Cavern. Once discovered, you will be able to access them from other Dragon Isles flight masters by clicking the zone in the lower right corner of the map. You can do the same to use a flight path to return to the surface.
