Priests are devout servants of the divine, be it the Light or the Void, and their artifact weapons reflect this background. In this guide we’ll show you how to unlock the hidden appearances for all three priest artifact weapons. To unlock the additional color tints for these appearances, see our main Hidden Artifact Weapon Appearances guide.
Discipline
Weapon: (Two Hand)
Hidden Appearance: Tomekeeper’s Spire
Hidden Effect: Overloaded with Light (Increases the damage of your next Light’s Wrath by 500%.)
Unlocked By: Writings of the End
How to Unlock Tomekeeper’s Spire
To obtain Writings of the End, start by speaking with Archivist Inkforge in Netherlight Temple, your class order hall. He can be found sitting on a bench near the Sanctuary of Light. If he’s not there, you may need to complete more of your order hall campaign, or you may need to have Light’s Wrath in your bags.
You need to fully explore his dialogue in order to complete this step. Do this by asking questions for your responses. Here’s what you should select:
- What did you do?
- What did you write down?
- What did you do then?
- <Take the book.>
He will give you Volume IV of The Annals of Light and Shadow. To complete the set, you must gather the other 12 volumes.
Here are the locations for all 12 books. Note that Volume II, IV, and VI are all located in Netherlight Temple, so you can get those all at the same time. The other books are scattered across the world.
Return the completed set of The Annals of Light and Shadow to Archivist Inkforge in Netherlight Temple, and he will give you Writings of the End.
Holy
Weapon: T’uure, Beacon of the Naaru (Two Hand)
Hidden Appearance: Crest of the Lightborn
Hidden Effect: Unknown
Unlocked By: Staff of the Lightborn
How to Unlock Crest of the Lightborn
To get Staff of the Lightborn you will need to combine a Crest of the Lightborn and a Rod of the Ascended. We’ll go over how to get both of these items below.
Kill Hyrja in Halls of Valor
Crest of the Lightborn drops from Hyrja, the second boss in the Halls of Valor dungeon. The item has a very low drop rate, so you will most likely need to kill her quite a few times before you see it. Before you can kill her, you will have to kill Hymdall, the first boss of the dungeon, as well as Olmyr the Enlightened and Solsten, two mini-bosses in her room.
Earn Exalted reputation with the Valarjar
Rod of the Ascended can be purchased when you have reached Exalted reputation with the Valarjar faction. To earn reputation with the Valarjar, you should start by completing quests in Stormheim. This should get you to Honored. Here is a list of quests in to help you out. We’ve left out any side quests that do not give Valarjar reputation. You can start these quests by selecting Stormheim as a strike point on the Scouting Map in your class order hall.

To continue gaining reputation beyond these quests, you will need to unlock World Quests for the Broken Isles by completing ! Uniting the Isles. This requires earning Friendly reputation with the four major Legion factions. The quickest way to earn reputation with each faction is by completing quests in their associated zones. Here are the factions and their zones:
- Court of Farondis (Azsuna)
- Highmountain Tribe (Highmountain)
- Dreamweavers (Val’sharah)
- Valarjar (Stormheim)
When you have reached Friendly with all four factions, visit Archmage Khadgar in The Violet Citadel in Dalaran to complete the quest ! Uniting the Isles.
With World Quests unlocked, look for those that grant Valarjar reputation.
Once you have reached Exalted reputation, you will be able to purchase Rod of the Ascended for 2000 gold from Valdemar Stormseeker at Valdisdall in Stormheim. Right-click it in your inventory to combine it with Crest of the Lightborn and create your Staff of the Lightborn.

Shadow
Weapon: Xal’atath, Blade of the Black Empire (Main Hand) and Secrets of the Void (Off Hand)
Hidden Appearance: Claw of N’Zoth
Hidden Effect: The weapon will sometimes speak to you.
Unlocked By: Claw of N’Zoth
How to Unlock Claw of N’Zoth
To obtain a Claw of N’Zoth you will need to kill Il’gynoth , a boss in the Emerald Nightmare raid. The item has a fairly low drop rate, so you may need to kill him quite a few times before you see it. Like most raid bosses, he can only be killed once per week on each difficulty. You will need to kill Nythendra, the first boss, in order to gain access to Il’gynoth. Killing both should be fairly trivial for a high level character.
