Each zone in Khaz’Algar has a unique event tied to it, and the one for Azj-Kahet is going to be centered around choosing a “Pact” which aligns you with one of three Nerubian commanders each week. Once you’ve chosen to make a pact with one of the three, you’ll be given a weekly quest to help the commander you’ve chosen by aiding them with various activities in the Azj-Kahet zone. Both to help you complete these quests and to grind reputation with your chosen commander there are some new zone-specific systems called Rumors and treasures you can seek out including Forgotten Memorials, Kaheti Excavations, and Weave-Rat Caches.
How to Unlock Rumor Brokers & Treasure Maps
For more general information on how Pacts work, make sure to check out our The Severed Threads Pacts Overview guide! Gaining access to the Rumor Brokers and pact-specific treasures only requires a few things:
- Be Renown rank 3 with The Severed Threads.
- Unlock pacts by completing the Pacts Below quest into the Of Pacts and Patrons quest.
- Choose to make a pact with either The Weaver, The General, or The Vizier.
- Keep in mind that you are locked into this choice for your entire warband until the weeklies reset the following week.
- You must be Acquaintance standing with your current chosen pact to unlock rumors, and Crony standing to unlock the pact-specific treasures.
Where Can Rumor Brokers & Treasures be Found?
Rumor Brokers
Rumor Brokers are going to spawn all over Azj-Kahet and will appear on your map/mini-map as a purple small circular spider icon. There are a ton of potential spawns for these brokers, but they rotate and can be difficult to find if you’re just zooming around overhead.
While you can search for these on your own if exploration is your jam, it’s recommended once you pick a pact to talk to the NPC next to where you choose your pact, in The Weaver’s Lair, called Yamas the Provider. This NPC has an item that lets you locate a guaranteed active Rumor Broker for 25 Kej each, up to a stack of 6, called Rumor Maps. Or if you’re a high roller you can get the Rumor Map Bundle for 125 Kej which reveals all currently active Rumor Brokers in the zone until their timers expire.
Pact Treasures
There are a few differences for the treasures you can find through pacts. First off, the pact you pick will change which type of treasure spawns.
Second, these treasures will only spawn in the zone when you’ve leveled your chosen pact up to Crony reputation. If you’ve chosen which one you want to go for and have the required reputation then it’s going to be much the same as finding and interacting with Rumor Brokers.
There will be icons on your maps in the form of little purple spiders active on a rotation, and once again our friendly neighborhood spider, Yamas the Provider, has the items we need to more easily locate these treasures. There will be a Treasure Map (25 Kej per) focused on the type of treasure that spawns for your currently selected pact, as well as a Treasure Map Bundle (125 Kej per) showing every active pact-treasure on the map for the day.
What Activities do Rumor Brokers & Treasures Spawn?
Rumors
These are essentially mini-world quests that should take no more than a couple of minutes to complete each. They’ll have you do a variety of simple tasks ranging from killing certain mobs nearby, to picking some of the local flora, to even eavesdropping on some soldiers who might’ve stashed away some supplies.
Once you find the broker, talk to them, and accept their proposition, it’ll appear as a bonus objective in your quest tracker and the spider icon will move toward where you need to go to complete the rumor. Click the icon on your map and it’ll even give you a waypoint to more easily locate where you need to be going!
As you can see in the example above, there’s no need to turn anything in once you’re done – it’ll automatically complete as it’s treated as a bonus objective in the area.
Pact Treasures
The type of treasure that spawns is dependent on which Nerubian leader you chose to make a pact with for the week:
- Treasures: Weave-Rat Caches will spawn for The Weaver.
- Find Thimble, a tiny friendly jumping spider, and follow her to find the hidden riches in the area.
- Treasures: Forgotten Memorials will spawn for The General.
- Visiting the forgotten memorials and interacting with them will summon Aspirant Kiipka who will challenge you to a duel. Beating Kiipka will make them leave behind an Aspirant’s Tribute with your rewards inside.
- Treasures: Kaheti Excavations will spawn for The Vizier.
- When you find one of these a friendly spider, Dor’garad, will ask you to assist with excavating in the area. There will be piles of dirt to click on that can spawn small mobs. Once you’ve done enough of these in the area the objective bar will fill and you’ll have completed the task.
Each of these has a small twist to differentiate them from one another, but they’re pretty simple affairs.
Rewards from Rumors & Treasures
The rewards for both of these are the same:
- Kej, the Nerubian currency of the zone.
- Valorstones.
- Reputation with the selected Nerubian commander for the week.
- Progress towards your weekly for assisting the commander you made a pact with.
Make sure to pick up the weekly once you make a pact! Not only will this give you a large chunk of reputation once completed, it’ll also give you a Pinnacle Cache, which can contain gear and a Restored Coffer Key.
