There’s an all new mode of endgame group content coming in the new expansion, The War Within, which was announced at BlizzCon today.
Delves are a new type of content designed for 1-5 players. Players will join the Dragonscale Expedition as they explore long-forgotten treasure vaults across Khaz Algar, one of the new zones.
You’ll be able to complete delves solo or with up to four friends. Unlike previous small-group content like scenarios and island expeditions, delves offer fully flexible group sizes so you can run them alone, with a partner, or with a full party. Delves are also role agnostic, so you’ll be able to bring any combination of specializations you choose. They’ll also be cross-faction.
You’ll also be accompanied by a seasonal NPC companion in the vaults, starting with Brann Bronzebeard for Season 1. These companions will have customizable talents and abilities that you’ll be able to select to suit your group and playstyle.
The expansion will launch with 13 unique delves throughout the world. At the end of each one, you’ll have to defeat a boss or complete a puzzle in order to unlock the vault’s treasure and complete the mission.
Along with the addition of delves, which are considered part of the game’s outdoor content, an Outdoor row will be added to the Great Vault, allowing players to earn seasonal endgame rewards through delves and other open world content.
